Immigration Team Purpose and Focus

The Boulder County LWV seeks to increase understanding of immigrant issues and concerns within the League and the public, advocate for humane, dignified, legal treatment of immigrants in our community and strive to strengthen democracy by ensuring all members of the community can participate in civic engagement through voting or other means.

"The Immigration Task Force exists to advance policies and practices that uphold the dignity, rights, and full civic participation of immigrants in Colorado. We recognize that a healthy democracy demands inclusion, access, and the protection of every community member, regardless of immigration status.

Grounded in the League’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging, we seek to deepen public understanding of immigration systems, elevate immigrant voices, and build pathways for engagement across our communities. By listening, learning, and acting alongside immigrant-led leaders and organizations, we strive to strengthen democracy from within and ensure that Colorado remains a place where every person can belong, contribute, and thrive."

"Immigration policies should promote the reunification of immediate families, meet economic, business, and employment needs, and be responsive to those facing political persecution or humanitarian crises."
